Martinique is much like any beach stroll, except that the waves are often exceptionally powerful and loud, particularly during fall storms or offshore hurricanes, when they can break over the dunes. Ascertain what weather conditions are forecast before you begin, especially if you plan to hike as far as Bayers Islands. The spray here always fogs my glasses, so I recommend wearing contact lenses if you have them (or practise your squinting).
