The trail is southwest of Halifax, toward Pegg's Cove. The ride along the Shad Bay trail is a short, 6-mile out-and-back on a rolling, rocky old road. It has all the components of a traditional mountain bike ride: mud, roots, and rock packed into a short doubletrack trail that can be managed by most riders. You will find the hills are long enough to present a challenge, but they end before you become too frustrated or exhausted. The wide trail and space between the rocks make it possible to plan and pick your path, and the ride is short enough that beginners will experience minimal frustration. the mostly forested outbound trail ends with a rewarding view at Holmar Marsh Lake - an ideal spot to simply take in the view or try to catch a trout for dinner!

Description is accurate of the trail. Driving out I wondered if I would ever find it (it's 19km down 333). What I got to ride was nice but about 1.5km in the trail became very over grown and narrow. Didn't really feel comfortable going further on my own.
