Money Point is located near the northernmost tip of Cape Breton Island, not far from the village of Bay St. Lawrence, in Victoria County. This 15.5-mile combination ride traces a 10-mile loop up and around Cape Breton Island's northern most tip. After traversing a high bluff overlooking Aspy Bay, the loop connects to an old road that adds a dramatic, 5.5-mile out-and-back excursion to Money Point. Although the ride begins and ends on pavement, most of this trip follows unpaved roads and old wagon tracks. Several severely eroded sections of the trail demand good bike handling skills and at least an intermediate level of technical ability. Furthermore, cardiovascular fitness is a must for anyone hoping to enjoy the ride or merely survive the climb back from Money Point! Be sure to begin this ride early in the day to allow enough time to complete the trip, spend some time down at Money Point, and take in the many breathtaking views.
