The trail head is located in Mount Pearl, just west of St. John's. This ride at Kenmount Hill traverses advanced singletrack that has been developed by a dedicated group of riders in St. John's. They have spent many hours in the woods, using chain saws and their knowledge of riding to build singletrack trails that take full advantage of the contours of the hillside. At the time we visited, two loops had been constructed, for a total of 4.5 mils of riding. The loops demand advanced-to-expert skills and an excellent level of fitness to ride from start to finish quickly, without a moment's rest. Located on the outskirts of St. John’s in Mount Pearl, the trails make some use of areas cleared around communication towers and of a gravel access road. Most of the trails are very challenging, since they wind tightly through the trees on narrow trails that are webbed with exposed roots and littered with rocks. There are rocky chutes and steep drop-offs that require excellent bike handling skills on descent and stamina to climb up. The appeal of the area lies in the challenging terrain and proximity to the city, not the scenery.
