This trail features several vistas that overlook the beautiful French Fort Cove. Pretty stands of young birch, aspen, and beech trees line the steep walls of the gorge. Sheep laurel on the upper plateau resemble tundra. Beavers and their lodge can frequently be seen at the cove near the covered bridge at dawn and dusk. In 1755, a battery was built at French Fort Cove for the protection of Acadians who had fled here after their expulsion from Nova Scotia. British troops later levelled it. Trail Condition: dry.
