This well-maintained trail gently ascends through open softwoods onto a beautiful hardwood ridge, where it levels off and swings to the left. At about 1.5 km (0.9 mi) you come to a fork. Turning right at this point leads to the falls. As the rocky trail descends, you reach another fork. Keeping to the right leads to the bottom of the 27 m (90 ft) high cascading Hays Falls. The waterfalls are the major attraction of this trail. The Maliseet Indian Trail, an old portage, was located in this area. It roughly follows the path beyond the falls. The trail is occasionally marked by blue metal blazes, some with a white diagonal bar, but it cannot be missed anyway.
