This challenging little hike largely follows the Trans Canada Trail as it ventures onto the mountain slopes below Cypress Provincial Park. From a beginning pervaded with road and railway history, the route passes through the once-restricted area of Nelson Canyon, crosses and re-crosses Eagle Creek, and culminates at an unsuspected viewpoint. The outing is satisfying as a winter workout or as a leisurely ramble at any time of year. Walk to the right, re-crossing Nelson Creek, to find the trail heading north from the east end of the bridge. After ascending to a water tower, you strike onto the right on afoot trail and soon you are climbing beneath magnificent Douglas firs and cedars high above the Nelson canyon.
