On the northeast corner of Salt Spring Island is Wallace Island Marine Provincial Park. Located 1.6 miles across Houston Passage from Salt Spring, Wallace is an easy paddle and great for paddlers of all skill levels. The narrow island has several protected coves, an easy portage over the middle, and hiking trails through thick forest. The coves are popular with boaters so expect a crowd on a sunny weekend. As a paddler you can easily find enough privacy in the island’s numerous pocket beaches and rocky alcoves to feel much farther way than you are.
