This area is included in the recently created Pinecone Burke Provincial Park. The trailhead for this trip is only 6 km (3.7 mi) by road from the start of Hike 60; but, since it is a private road, the approach is by canoe or kayak across Pitt River. This does, though, add over 2 hours to the length of your day. Therefore an early start, or an overnight camp, is essential if you are to enjoy a little time at this scenic body of water, which is hemmed in by granite bluffs except at its outlet to the west fork of Widgeon Creek. Snow lies late on the trail in the bowl beneath the lake.
