The creation of Cypress Provincial Park in 1975, and the accompanying vehicle access, makes the ascent of Hollyburn Mountain today an easy outing for most people. But this was not always so. Old-timers in West Vancouver can remember hikers from the city wending their way up from the ferry to the mountain. Now, although many of these old trails have disappeared, it is still possible to follow the approximate route of a few, a little overgrown and worn in places, but still passable. So savour something of the past in this ascent!
