A ride on the Grouse Mountain Skyride puts the hike to Goat Mountain within reach of anyone wishing a fairly short outing with splendid views almost every step of the way. The Grouse Mountain–area summits provide superlative views: to the southeast are Mount Baker and the Cascade Mountains, to the west are the Strait of Georgia and Vancouver Island, and to the north and east, the sea of mountain peaks and valleys that is southwestern British Columbia. For even shorter trips, the summit of Dam Mountain or a hike east of Dam on Thunderbird Ridge is a worthwhile objective.
