B.C. Hydro must be given full credit for combining water storage with superlative facilities for hiking, horseback riding and water recreation in the area surrounding Buntzen Lake. And in the case of the trail of the ten viewpoints, the building of a floating bridge over the south arm makes possible a truly delightful circuit up along Buntzen Ridge (the north-south ridge to the west of the lake) and back along the lake.

I enjoyed this trail completely. Even though we lost the trail at the switchbacks and ended up scrambling up a very steep ridge. The Views are worth the work although some of the viewpoints are overgrown. There were snowy patches as well as flooded and mucky patches. Overall, 4 out of 5.

WOW! Very cool trail. Starts off at the end of the floating bridge and takes you through typical bc rainforest, lots of ferns, berry bushes, vine maples and tons of sphagnum moss on every rock. As you get higher into the mountain you can see the affect that this years harsh winter has had on the forest, almost every standing dead tree has fallen, tops of large trees are broken off, huge limbs broken off big leaf maples(acer macrophyllum). This is good for the forest, lets more light in and allows for more and quicker germination. Even higher up, you begin to feel like you are in the interrior mountains lots of pine and somewhat more open. The views are outstanding. Only down fall of the hike is every view is pretty much the same, and the slog back to the truck along the access road. Or do what i did, backtrack the trail. Totally worth doing, even in the snow :) Props for this trail, thumbs up.
