Boundary Bay is bordered by true salt marsh, the beds of eelgrass and other marine vegetation providing a feeding ground for vast numbers of migratory waterfowl and shorebirds. Keen birdwatchers should make this a winter trip to see the greatest variety of birds; others may enjoy the beaches in summer, or simply a brisk walk along the open dyke. Since the dyke path around the bay extends for 16 km (10 miles), which is more than most walkers would want to tackle at one time, we have described it in two sections.
