From almost anywhere around Howe Sound, Anvil Island is an alluring feature of your viewscape. The rocky horn of Leading Peak is the major contributing factor, although the island’s location in the middle of the sound is certainly part of its attraction. Because of the exposed rock, the ascent looks as if it might be technically difficult but that is not the case. This is a straightforward hike with only minor scrambling just before the summit. The views from the top, as might be expected, are panoramic.
