This is a trip to savour. Gold Creek is a beautiful stream and the trail is close to the water much of the way. The creek crossing is on bleached logs well above the water. On the rise to the lake is a stand of big old trees. The lake itself is deep and clear with rock slides running into it from the cliffs above. However, here’s the reality check! To make it to the lake and back in one day, you have to hustle. Bicycles are allowed on the East Canyon Trail, so consider that option!
