Hike to a high bluff overlooking Boundary Pass and set your sights on the Salish Sea. Peer out across Boundary Pass to Orcas, Patos, Sucia, and Waldron islands and realize just how close you are to the San Juans—and how arbitrary the international boundary is that bisects this archipelago. This delightful figure -eight hike follows some old roadways transformed into trail. Start by heading toward Narvaez Bay, following a gently descending old road 0.2 mile to a junction. Steadily climb through second-growth cedars. Walk to the Monarch Head viewpoint. It's a precipitous drop, so don't venture too close o the edge, lest you get butterflies in your stomach.
