The Dome, which is clearly of volcanic origin, is not always accessible to the public in July and August as the military conducts manoeuvres in the area from time to time. The exercises are being protested by the neighbouring Toosey Indian Band and may end before long. It is best to check with Williams Lake Tourist Information beforehand, if you plan to hike in the summer. The walk is a pleasant one to the highest point on the landscape, with outstanding views in all directions. It is possible to drive a considerable length of the road with a high-clearance vehicle. The length of the hike then depends on where you start walking.
