Up to one-third of the park’s nineteen orchid species line this trail, which ends with fantastic views of the glaciers atop Mount Ball. You’ll travel uphill through the trees for two hours before spotting any impressive scenery along this trail. But the bird’s-eye view at the end more than compensates for your efforts. The trail starts 100 meters from the parking lot on the east side of Highway 93. For the first 600 meters, you’ll skirt the highway, passing Hawk Creek on your right (east) before heading into a forest of Douglas fir and lodgepole pine to your right (northeast).
