Another great place for families, Cathedral Grove offers short loop trails on either side of Highway 4 through stands of giant old-growth Douglas fir trees, some of which are 800 years old. Mixed with western hemlock, grand fir, and western red cedar, the forest understory is thick with massive ferns, shrubs, and thorny devil’s-club. Approximately 750,000 tourists visit the park every year, so please stay on trails. Though the government recently lowered the speed limit through the park, take care when crossing the highway.
