This surprisingly energetic circuit in the Lower Lynn Creek valley is named after an old cattle trail from the Interior to Burrard Inlet. To reach this remnant of B.C. history, however, you must first pass under two highways and skirt an unromantic landfill site. Thereafter, your surroundings abruptly change to semi-wilderness as you work your way upstream to your turnaround point in Lynn Canyon Park. The route is accessible throughout the year, but beware of slippery steps and bridges in wet or frosty weather. The best starting point for this outing is Bridgman Park on Keith Road. From the east side of the parking lot, the trail heads north to take you safely beneath the Keith Road and Highway 1 bridges, after which you proceed more peacefully along the west bank of Lynn Creek. When you come to a footbridge spanning the creek, cross to the east side and continue upstream on the civilized pathway.
