With snow lying late on Hollyburn’s higher reaches, it is fortunate that a well-established trail system on its south-facing lower slopes permits an earlier start to the hiking season. The bad news is that the trails are wet early in the year, the good that the tree shade makes this a wise choice for hot days in summer. For a start, leave Highway 1/99 (Upper Levels Highway) at Exit 8 for Cypress Parkway and drive to HiView Lookout at the second hairpin bend. Cut across the corner to pick up your trail on the north side of the highway and almost immediately note the trail coming downhill from the left; it will be your return route.
