All-season hikers have good reason to bless the Boy Scouts for the many miles of their Baden-Powell Trail at lower elevations. Walkers undaunted by some rough, steep sections can tackle the entire route described. A midway connection at Skyline Drive makes easier variations possible. You will spot the joint Grouse Grind and Baden-Powell trailhead above the parking lot. Please note that the Grouse Grind is likely to be closed during winter months, preventing access to the Baden-Powell here. In this case, go along the powerline right-of-way to Skyline Drive and, using the map, pick up the Baden-Powell at Mosquito Creek. Let’s assume you pass unhindered through the wire gate at the joint trailhead. A short distance along the well-used trail, where grinders head left, you follow the orange Baden-Powell markers straight ahead for your more interesting trek across the lower slopes of Grouse Mountain.
