This trail is located within the city of Nanaimo. Westwood Lake, nestled within the city of Nanaimo, is one of that community's most popular swimming holes. This wide, gravel path circumnavigates the lake, offering a chance to leave the busy beach behind and enjoy a quiet roll around this picturesque pond. The 5.96 km (3.58 miles) ride begins at the beach; climbs over a short, moderate knoll; and rolls smoothly around the entire shoreline. Once you reach the east end of the lake, you ride past a short marshy section that is alive with bird life. A similar marsh awaits you at the western end as well. On a sunny day, a breeze off the lake helps you keep cool, and the pleasant views make this a worthwhile outing for the whole family.
