Built on an isthmus that stretches out to a rocky headland, this eight-hectare park features snaking trails through mixed forest to a number of seaside lookouts. Piper’s Lagoon Park is one of the ideal spots in the area to enjoy fiery orange and purple sunsets. Artists often congregate here to paint the landscape. Another favorite activity is bird-watching; seagulls, sandpipers, horned grebes, loons, kingfishers, bald eagles, and great blue herons are just a few of the varieties of bird life found here. If hiker’s luck is on your side, you might see a migrating pod of orcas or sea lions basking on the rocks.
