Difficult hiking on trail over several summits and high passes with some minor routefinding challenges. Despite being one of the most remote segments, this stretch of the GDT offers good trails and developed campgrounds. The main attraction is the high traverse along the Divide over Big Shale Hill and around Morkill Mountain. All the passes are boggy but beautiful areas, with incredible views.
