All the Gulf Islands offer pleasurable riding, but Mayne is especially popular with Recreational bicyclists. There is plenty to see on this island, and the roads form a nice loop. Although the basic route is less than 13 miles, few riders complain that there isn't enough to do during their time on the island. The loop circling Mayne Island is the starting point for side trips to quiet bays, beaches, and windy points of land, each offering a unique view of the beautiful waters and islands of the Strait of Georgia. Art galleries on the island display the creative work of the many artists who call Mayne their home. There is so much to do here that many cyclists opt for an extended stay. Mayne has resorts and bed-and-breakfast guest houses, where cyclists often stay. These are especially busy during the summer months, when vacationers flock to the islands, so make reservations early if possible. Terrain: Hilly, narrow roads, light traffic.
