UBC Malcolm Knapp Research Forest Professional Review and Guide

"To honour one of its outstanding personalities, the University of British Columbia dedicated to Malcolm Knapp its research forest in Maple Ridge. To reach the forest from Highway 7 (Lougheed Highway) in Haney, follow the signs for Golden Ears Provincial Park, staying with 232nd Street when the park road turns right after the bridge over the South Alouette River. Thereafter, a fork right on Silver Valley Road brings you to the parking area. To the left is the office, where, for a dollar, you may obtain an excellent self-guiding booklet and map.

Armed with this brochure, you may enjoy the demonstration forest on your own. (Please: no dogs or bikes.) The easy red trail takes up to an hour, the green a little longer; the yellow provides the most detailed information about various aspects of forestry and requires about 2 hours for its 3.2 km (2 mi), while the blue is primarily a hiking trail, doubling the length of the yellow and giving the greatest variety of scenery."
