Golden Ears Park - East Canyon Trail Professional Review and Guide
"This trail is located in Golden Ears Provincial Park. The East Canyon Trail is one of those trails that allow you some high-gear riding along with an increasingly technical singletrack. The main trail is an 11.4 km (6.8 miles) out-and-back with options for extending the ride. The only limits are your kidneys and your lungs. The trail finally peters out after about 7 km (4.2 miles). The trail begins within a dark Douglas fir forest mixed with western red cedar, red alder, and vine maple. This is interspersed with some more open cottonwood and salmonberry. It also sports some of the most luxurious ferns imaginable. Keep your eyes open for the blue flash of the Steller's jay and the white of the wild lily of the valley and foam flower. Hiker's Beach, at kilometer 5.7 (mile 3.4), forms a natural turnaround point."
