This is a more pleasing walk than the brief scramble up Lone Butte. The trail winds through forest all the way, with tiger lilies, arnica and lupine providing colour to the underbrush. While not in itself a volcanic core, Huckleberry Butte nevertheless reveals evidence of the same volcanic activity in the volcanic cinders and breccia on the trail. The view from the summit is outstanding- especially to the east where, on a clear day, the distant summits of the Trophy Mountains and Dunn Peak are visible.
