Hicks Lake: a plain name for an appealing body of water. This popular lake in Sasquatch Provincial Park exudes a friendly atmosphere, with well-appointed campsites, canoe rentals, swimming beaches and a grassy picnic area sloping down to the shore. As well as the trail around the lake, a shorter path circles a beaver pond near the day-use parking area. While Hicks Lake is surely the perfect place for a family outing, vigorous hikers can add distance and elevation to the walk described by following an old logging road at the south end of the lake to a viewpoint on a hydro right-of-way. This side trip adds 6 km (4 miles) and 160 m (525 feet) of elevation gain to the lake trail.
