What begins as a gentle uphill hike turns into a steep switchback trail to reach the basin of Mount Sir Donald and the Vaux Glacier. Well worth the effort, it’s a great hike for a sunny day. The 800-meter route to its base is relentless, but the trip to the basin and the toe of the Vaux Glacier is definitely worth the steep climb (Perley Rock climbs to a higher elevation; it just does it over 2.4 kilometers).
