This short stroll through the woods ends at picturesque Ross Lake, which is nestled among Narao Peak, Pope’s Peak, and Mount Whyte. It’s flat, quick, and picturesque. Ross Lake is also a bit off the beaten path—especially now that Highway 1A is closed to vehicles. The only drawback is the 1.8-kilometer trudge along Highway 1A. Although you’ll enjoy views of both Mount Bosworth (2,771 m) and Sink Lake to your left (north), the highway noise is an unpleasant distraction, as are the thundering trains on nearby tracks.
