This steep, forested climb crosses several avalanche chutes, ending with views of hanging glaciers. If you’re out of shape like we were the first time we hiked this trail, you’re bound to feel a bit of pain on your ascent to Emerald Basin. But the prime views from the natural amphitheater at the end of the hike make it all worthwhile.
