Alpine Loop

Alpine Loop Professional Review and Guide

"This high-elevation trail offers bird’s-eye views of Lake O’Hara, Lake Oesa, the Opabin Plateau, Schaffer Lake, and the many mountains surrounding Lake O’Hara. Looking up from Lake O’Hara, this hike appears much more treacherous than it actually is.

Although some parts of the trail involve a steep climb, you won’t want to miss Yoho National Park’s most spectacular trail. We passed a woman well into her eighties and kids as young as seven on the Alpine Loop, which offers fantastic bird’s-eye views of Lake O’Hara, Lake Oesa, Schaffer Lake, and area mountain peaks. If you only have a day or two to spend at Lake O’Hara, this hike provides an excellent overview of the entire area."
