This wilderness trail follows the Ottertail River 9.06 miles from the Trans Canada Highway to its junction with McArthur Creek. At this point, you must retrace your steps to the trailhead for a total distance of 18.12 miles. On your right, the craggy peaks of the Ottertail Range- and farther along, Fulmen Mountain- dominate the open views. To the left, Mount Owen's horn-like summit stands defiantly above the valley. The trail follows an excellent fire road and offers a wide, smooth track. The terminus at the McArthur Creek junction leaves you in a wonderful location for some extended exploring on foot. Views of Goodsir Mountain and a pristine alpine location make this a place worth revisiting.
