This wide fire road winds along the shores of its namesake river for approximately 4.1 miles before finally choking off in overgrown vegetation. It's a great family ride with plenty of opportunities to get off your bike and wander down by the river. In June and early, keep your eyes open for the delicate yellow lady's-slipper orchid alongside the trail. Please don't pick them, though, since they're extremely fragile and may take years (if ever) to regrow. to the west, the towering face of Mount Duchesnay dominates, while Mount Hurd of the Ottertail Range holds the southern sky. Mount Hurd honors Major M.F. Hurd, one of the many explorer/surveyors for the Canadian Pacific Railway. This mountain was featured on a 10-cent stamp in 1928.
