Easy hike on fair trail with only a gradual climb to one pass. The Upper Amiskwi River valley has large tracts of standing deadwood, ravaged by forest fire. From the Natural Bridge near Field the GDT follows the Amiskwi River valley to a low pass on the border of Yoho National Park. This remote segment provides the opportunity to random camp in a national park, which may mitigate your experience of the sometimes poor condition of the trail. The views are good but the walking through areas of burnt forest can be intolerably dry on hot days.
