This is a great ride for those days when you simply want to get out and burn off some steam. The climbing is steady, with few breaks, but as you gain elevation the views open up toward Three Sisters Mountain to the west and Mount Hosmer to the east. Along the way, a short side trip to Hartley Lake offers a pleasant diversion. Popular with fisherman, this tiny lake attracts many vehicles to this narrow road, so avoid this ride on busy weekends. From the pass, the return route is fast and furious. Avoid weekends when this route can be busy with vehicles.
