Sometimes we get the urge to fight gravity; other times, we simply want to go with it. Fernie Alpine Resort offers the best of both worlds. During the summer the Elk Chair is open for hikers and mountain bikers looking for an easy way to gain elevation. From the top of the chair, the lines go up and down. This is the type of network where you simply check the map and choose your line. Difficulty levels vary from easy to sheer madness. This is a great place to play, allowing for some virtually unlimited downhill mileage. It offers great views across the valley toward Castle Mountain.
