Fraser Delta Professional Review and Guide
"Westham Island, west of Ladner, is best known for the George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary, a congregating place for a variety of marine and predatory birds. Each spring and fall, thousands of our winged friends rest here before their departures north or south, providing paddlers with endless hours of enjoyment. Be sure to bring a bird book and binoculars. Living in Vancouver blesses the paddler with many things. The finest boats and paddles in the world are made in our own backyard, and many of the best paddling instructors and outfitters are based here. Most importantly, we and our visitors have the ocean on our doorstep, which means we can experience the joy of paddling 365 days a year. This chapter describes just a few of the trips you can take in and around Vancouver."
