Though this is an island in name only, a causeway now connecting the regional park with the mainland south of the Fraser, it still has sufficient water around it to maintain the illusion of its former status. Another interesting feature is that on your walk westwards you cross the southern entrance to the George Massey Tunnel, giving you a view from above of Highway 99, the route on which you travel south from Vancouver to undertake this outing. This walk is especially rewarding in winter when the trees are bare and river views are at their best.
