Pilot Bay Trail Professional Review and Guide
"Pilot Bay Provincial Park is loved by the locals. Its trails are well maintained, and although the park gets plenty of visitors (a good number arrive by boat), even on the hottest days there’s still plenty of room at Pilot Bay’s scenic beaches. The hike to Boomer’s Landing offers the prettiest beach in the park. As the name indicates, Boomer’s Landing was once a log boom—a point of contact for cut timber to be tugged across Kootenay Lake to mills. In fact much of the present park was the site of past logging and milling. Walking among the park’s tall pines and cedars—and looking out upon a shoreline that appears to be pristine—it’s now hard to imagine that such a beautiful place was once hopping with industry. Pilot Bay offers sound evidence of nature’s resilience."
