Vedder Mountain Ridge Trail Professional Review and Guide
"This trail is located south of Chilliwack. The Ridge Trail on Vedder Mountain combines a gradual climb up the wide gravel of the Vedder Mountain Forest Service Road with an up-and-over route to traverse a shoulder of Vedder Mountain. The 17.2 km (10.3 miles) loop provides a combination of wide, fast fire road and narrow singletrack. Don't be fooled by the wide approach- the trail is at times narrow and technical and should be reserved for strong riders only. Once you leave the Forest Service road, the trail, which is mostly an old forestry road, often narrows and becomes quite rutted in spots. Melon-sized boulders will test your balance on other sections. The trail runs through an understory of alder, Douglas fir, elder, and thimbleberry. Tiny bleeding heart flowers seem to sympathize with your pain form some of the uphill stretches. The views of the surrounding farmland are spectacular and showcase the canals built for irrigation in the area."
