A favorite spot for climbers, Crest Mountain is also a breathtaking hike to gorgeous views of Strathcona’s snowcapped wonderland from 1,500-plus meters. This steep climb winds its way straight up the mountain in places, offering a quick transition from forest to alpine. Views include glimpses of King’s Peak, Puzzle Mountain, and the Elk River Valley. Though this is one of the few alpine hikes in the park that does not lead to further ridge routes, there is a camping area at 1,400 meters adjacent to an unnamed lake.
