"Since this gem-like stretch of water is on Bowen Island, you must reach it from the mainland by B.C. Ferries from Horseshoe Bay, a short trip but satisfying in itself, with the mountains of Howe Sound for company. Killarney Lake Loop Trail to begin your walk along the lake. Though you are mainly in forest the ground drops away to the left, giving glimpses of the lake with the Mount Gardner massif behind. Then, finally, after a detour to a particularly clear viewpoint, you reach marshy ground at the far end of the lake crossed by an attractive boardwalk.
Now on the lake’s west side, you turn south, regaled by the sight of water plants and birds. By lake’s end a road and your track are virtually side by side; however, your route soon turns off left towards a picnic area by the dam that reveals the lake’s artificiality."
