Matsqui Trail

Matsqui Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This trail is located in the city of Matsqui. One of the more pleasant riverside rides along the Fraser River, the Matsqui Trail takes you on an 16.88 km (10.2 miles) out-and-back trip along the winding course of this famous river. Along the way, it winds through some of the agricultural land that borders the Fraser. Although close to civilization, this trail has a decidedly rural feel to it.

Bring the kids, as there is little to slow them down on this well-designed trail. For riders looking for a little more challenge, the trail offers periodic singletrack forks heading toward the river. These undesignated trails tend to bob and weave through the trees, allowing for a little diversion from the flat of the main trail."

"If you wish, you may stretch this into a return trip that will take you the better part of a day; there are, however, intermediate points with access to the river at which you may turn around once you feel you have had enough of this stretch of the Centennial Trail north of Abbotsford. If you can organize two cars, you may also turn this into a very pleasant one-way outing."

"Field, forest, wetland and river are yours as you hike the new western section of the Matsqui Trail. This entire trail along the south side of the Fraser River is a model of cooperation.

Comprising the Fraser Valley Regional Trail, 14 km (9 miles) of the Trans Canada Trail, miles of dykes leased from the City of Abbotsford and passage, by agreement, through Matsqui First Nation lands."
