In 1974, at a time when most B.C. communities were filling in their marshes, the 100 Mile Naturalists, the Rotary Club and village council were attempting to protect theirs. Their efforts paid off the following year when the marsh was designated a wildlife sanctuary, and Ducks Unlimited and Fish and Wildlife lent their expertise to the project. The result is one of the few such refuges to be found in the middle of a municipality. The Municipality of 100 Mile House, Historic Background located midway between Clinton and 100 Mile House originally was known as Williams Lake, is the commer cial hub of Bridge Creek House when Thomas the South Cariboo region extending Miller owned the ramshackle collection from Lac la Hache in the north, and east of buildings serving the traffic of the fur to Bridge Lake. Within this radius are a trade.
