Kootenai Lakes

Waterton Park, Alberta

Kootenai Lakes Professional Review and Guide

"This long day hike follows the Waterton Valley Trail up the Waterton River from Goat Haunt Ranger Station, at the head of Waterton Lake. Hikers who attempt this route should catch a boat shuttle early in the morning in order to complete the trip before the last boat of the day departs for Waterton township. Kootenai Lakes provide fishing for good-size brook trout and the possibility of sighting moose. The lakes also offer backcountry campsites."

Great hike. Great scenery along the boat ride, followed by a nice woodland hike to a lakeshore that is truly out of the way. Bruce Chapman Wooster OH
