Crypt Lake Trail

Crypt Lake Trail Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Few places in the Northern Rockies offer naturally occurring tunnels, such as this one carved out of the rock by erosion near the upper reaches of the Crypt Lake Trail and only a few minutes before reaching the crystalline waters of the lake. Crypt Lake’s shores are in both Canada and the U.S. but are only accessible by trail from Upper Waterton Lake."

BTW This hike starts only in Alberta, I don't know why it says MT.,

A great hike, The tunnel ,and ladder you climb to enter it , and the ledge with the cable you hang onto is very near the lake. I took the early boat going ,and the late boat leaving, which gave me time to walk around the lake. One thing I will mention is that near where the boat lets you off at the start of the hike there is another trail you can take that joins up with the crypt lake trail a mile or so along the path. This trail goes to Hell Roaring falls ,and is better to take on the return from crypt lake as that way it is all down hill. Since I had seen what was to see going up I took the loop to the falls on the way down despite others saying it was a steep climb ,to take it going up may be a little tiring as it would be quite tiring, but not going down to the boat .
