Junction Mountain Fire Lookout Professional Review and Guide
"The trail lies south of the Sheep Trail and west of Turner Valley, Alberta. This intermediate-level trail climbs 2200 feet to a lonely fire lookout atop an outlier of Junction Mountain. The trail is an out-and-back total distance of 17.6 miles. The trail parallels the Sheep River for a short distance before fording Dyson Creek. Just below the ford, a pleasant falls represents one of the first refrigerators in the mountains.
As the trail climbs past the first viewpoint, the slope is covered with hedysarum, locoweed, buttercups, and chickweed. The pleasant nature of this meadow distracts you from the steep climbing ahead. As the trail finally crests the summit, and the fire lookout is reached, it's very tempting to announce your presence and visit the lookout. However, this is not a public building, so don't."
